The power of music is incredible and it can also alter our mood, as well as change the ambience in any room.
Today is a celebration of music worldwide. 🌏🌎🌍 In recent years, studies have been conducted to explore the effects of music on our state of mind and in particular, the effects of music on our stress or levels of anxiety.

Scientists have found that one particular song by Marconi United, called ‘Weightless’ may help to reduce stress and anxiety levels.
In a study with over 40 female participants, they found that listening to the song helped to reduce anxiety in the participants by over 65%, and was more relaxing for them than a bath or a massage. The song contains a gentle rhythm that is present throughout, that resembles a human heartbeat and the creators collaborated with a sound therapist when producing the song, adopting many different relaxing sounds and instruments to make ‘Weightless’.
The ‘Weightless’ video on YouTube has been viewed over 37 million times, so a lot of people seem to be utilising the benefits of the song! Be warned though, Doctors who conducted the study have warned against listening to it whilst driving, due to the sleep-inducing effects it might have. So, next time you are feeling the pressure of an exam or the stress of work.
