Due to significant growth in our business, we are now seeking to recruit a Research Assistant on a 4-month fixed term contract to provide support and additional capacity to our Research Team. There may be the opportunity for a permanent role offer at the end of the 4 months.

This is a unique opportunity to research and create bespoke content on contemporary Safeguarding topics. Your role will be to identify new trends and themes in Safeguarding, conduct in depth research and quality assure content. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enhance their research and writing skills in a dynamic and contemporary environment.

The INEQE Safeguarding Group is the largest company of its kind, specialising in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the context of their access to technology and use of social media. As a Research Assistant, you will have the opportunity to research and create contextual safeguarding content which will have an impact and support the work we do; to help make people safer.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identify, research and conduct comparative analysis of new themes and trends in safeguarding

  • Monitoring trends through daily alerts

  • Present findings in appropriate formats and reports

  • Maintain existing content in line with new legislative developments and updates (includes tailoring content to different regions across the UK and Ireland)

  • Support the research team to source safeguarding information from local authorities and request FOI’s

  • Support the management of the company Social Media accounts, including posting on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn

  • Research and write short blogs and briefings on safeguarding related topics and social media platforms and apps

  • Work collaboratively across teams to develop our content and create bespoke safeguarding content for our diverse customer base

  • Ensure compliance with established standards of quality assurance

  • Developing and maintaining a contemporary insight into current and emerging safeguarding trends and an up to date understanding of relevant statutory guidance and sector specific good practice

  • Providing general administration support

Requirements

  • 2:1 or above in a degree with a research / sociology / criminology / journalism / social care / legal / humanities related element

  • Excellent research, data collection and analytical skills

  • Knowledge and experience of a range of social research methods including both qualitative and quantitative techniques

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Be able to adapt style of research

  • High attention to detail and have a thorough approach

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task

  • A high level of integrity with the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters

  • The ability to assess risk, analyse and report upon inspection and audit findings

  • The ability to conduct open-source research focused on identifying emerging issues and trends

  • A good level of computer literacy

  • Be able to work under pressure

  • A self-motivated team player but happy to work on your own initiative

Desirable Criteria

  • Practical experience of working with children and young people at risk

  • Have a good understanding of contemporary technology and social media and its use by children and young people

  • An interest in developing an in-depth knowledge and understanding of safeguarding in the context of the digital world

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Current Working Arrangements

In order to comply with government directions during the pandemic, our staff are primarily working from home, with an increasing presence in the office. Once restrictions are lifted, we will all return to office working.

The company are about to participate in the NI Smart: Asymptomatic Testing Programme with twice weekly Lateral Flow Testing made available for staff working in the office.
