Responding to Those Who Pose Risk in Church Settings
Overview
This course equips church officers to assess and manage risks posed by individuals, including those who have sexually harmed. Training covers implementing safety plans and emphasises the importance of communication, collaboration, monitoring procedures and enhancing knowledge of relevant policies for a safer church environment.
The course also addresses how some individuals that are considered to represent a risk may minimise, self-justify and blame others for their
previous conduct. By incorporating scenarios and good practices,
this training equips church officers with the necessary tools to
prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all church members.
Learning Objectives
- Implement, monitor, and apply effective safety plans.
- Understand and address concerning behaviours such as minimisation, justification and blame.
- Support the Church community, including the point of contact, while maintaining confidentiality.
