The Safer Schools App developed by Ineqe Safeguarding Group in partnership with Zurich Municipal has been named the 5 Star Winner in the Safeguarding Category in the National Teach Secondary Awards.
The App has seen rapid uptake since roll out began, the roll out continues to evolve as the App makes its way into the pockets of 13,500 school communities across the UK.
The free App offers vital safeguarding information, advice and guidance for teachers, parents and pupils. It comes at a time of unprecedented risk for young people online from abuse and exploitation as 83% 12-15 year old’s now own their own smartphone, and 71% are allowed to take it to bed with them.
Of particular concern to parents, and safeguarding professionals is the sexting phenomenon. 1 in 4 young people under 18 engage in ‘sexting’ and 1 in 8 young people under 18 report having a ‘sext’ forwarded without their consent.

Featuring CPD certified safeguarding training and contemporary, credible and relevant prompts, alerts and warnings, the App puts the information where users need it, when they need it; in their pockets.”
Danielle Ratcliffe, Assistant Principal said:
“I’m passionate about keeping children safe and I think that this App brings together a wide range of credible resources from a really experienced team with much knowledge behind it… I’m really excited by the CPD resources, quick quizzes and some of the deeper surveys; but most importantly, how surveys can be used for monitoring the impact of training.”
