Female Genital Mutiliation (FGM) Awareness
Overview
This training session provides participants with a clear understanding of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) as a form of child abuse and gender-based violence. It explores the cultural, social, and psychological context surrounding the practice and equips professionals with the knowledge and confidence to identify, respond to, and safeguard those at risk. Regardless of role or setting, every professional has a responsibility to act. That’s why we explore how you can achieve the balance between appropriate professional curiosity and challenge, while remaining aware of how bias, assumptions, and discrimination can unintentionally influence safeguarding decisions. Using real-life case studies and key legislation, the course empowers attendees to respond effectively and compassionately within a multi-agency framework.
