Overview
As online risks continue to evolve, effective filtering and monitoring systems have become essential in maintaining a safe and supportive digital environment in schools and colleges.
This course supports school leaders, safeguarding professionals, and IT staff to understand and apply national guidance, including the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education and the DfE’s Meeting digital and technology standards in schools and colleges.
Participants will explore how filtering and monitoring can reduce access to harmful content while supporting learning, and how to implement, review, and evaluate systems that meet inspection expectations and safeguarding responsibilities.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Understand the online risks that filtering and monitoring systems are designed to address.
- Recognise how statutory guidance, including KCSIE and DfE standards, informs online safeguarding.
- Explore how to implement systems that balance safety, access, and usability in educational settings.
- Learn how to assess and review digital safety measures to ensure they remain effective and proportionate.
- Develop confidence in aligning technical approaches with whole-school safeguarding policies.
