Line Manager: Senior Professional Advisor

Salary: £26,000 – £35,000 per year

We are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Advisor to support our Senior Professional Advisor. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance on safeguarding and related issues across the organisation, including the development of specialist audits and sector specific self-assessments. Whilst the primary focus would be on safeguarding children and young people, this role will also help us develop our approach to safeguarding adults at risk.

The successful candidate will be a committed safeguarding professional with a proven track record that reflects practical experience, an appetite to ask questions and an ability to respectfully challenge.

The Role

The successful candidate will be professionally supervised and supported by our Senior Professional Safeguarding Advisor and line managed on a day-to-day basis by the Director of Operations. The role will involve some travel (subject to government guidelines) and duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Developing and maintaining a contemporary insight into current and emerging safeguarding trends and an up to date understanding of relevant statutory guidance and sector specific good practice.

  • Implementing safeguarding due diligence procedures with partners and client organisations.

  • Support internal induction and onboarding procedures.

  • Supporting our current Safeguarding Team, including developing specialist audits and sector specific self-assessments.

  • Maintaining and developing our network of safeguarding ambassadors.

  • Delivering and advising on our bespoke training (internal and external).

  • Providing general administration support, for example, supporting HR with safer recruitment processes.

Essential Criteria Requirements:

  • Be highly motivated, with a person-centred approach reflecting excellent communication and relationship management skills.

  • A safeguarding related professional qualification and or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant role. For example, DSL.

  • A high level of integrity with the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters.

  • Practical experience of working with children and young people at risk.

  • Safeguarding case management experience including a thorough understanding of safeguarding roles and responsibilities in education and the wider statutory sector.

  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working arrangements.

  • The ability to assess risk, analyse and report upon inspection and audit findings.

  • The ability to conduct open-source research focused on identifying emerging issues and trends.

  • A good level of computer literacy.

Desirable Requirements

  • Practical experience of working with vulnerable adults.

  • Experience of working with marginalised or at-risk young people including SEND, LGBTQ+, homeless youth, care experienced young people and children who go missing, including unaccompanied minors.

  • Experience dealing with complex safeguarding issues across national and regional boundaries.

  • Experience in other sectors including charitable, faith based, criminal justice and sporting organisations.

  • Have a good understanding of contemporary technology and social media and its use by children and young people
